New tank copepods

We're were talking about putting a clown fish in after the tank was cycled just to keep the nitrogen cycle running. only a fool would put a fish through all of that.

I dose Phytoplankton for pods as well.

I’m also trying to get coralline algae established before I add fish. I used a bottle from arc reef to seed it. Would pods hurt getting it established?

The question is more about keeping the copepods growing in population until I put the fish in.

I wanted to know if the copepods would be ok with just the algae growth or if I need to throw food in for them and if just the algae is ok. then would I need to add in ammonia to keep the cycle going until fish are in.

Ok, first of all, yes...you should feed them to boost their population. Reed Mariculture has been producing their Apex pods which do very well in a home aquarium. You need to read and do the research, because each species has different characteristics and unique needs. The Apex pods are really cool because of the amount of nauplii they produce. A ton. I have some pdf files that I can send you, p,is I can recommend a book that will give you every little details with references to read more if you like. I’ve been working with copepods, using them for breeding fish and shrimp. My three fav species are Tisbe, Tiggers and now Apex pods. Let me know if you want the PDFs. I’ll need your email or something. I can’t post here for some reason with Tapatalk. Y
I’ve also told you this before, but I’ll reiterate it. KEEP A SEPERATE CULTURE OF PODS, SEPERATE FROM YOUR DISPLAY. You’ll have no trouble whatsoever getting a dense population in less than a month, depending. I have a ton of pics and info on m6 FB page. Microscopic pics and video of pods, rotifers fish, shrimp etc that I’ve been breeding. I’m happy to share info and he you going. It’s not a big expense. You can start everything and get a bunch of pods for under a 75$ including shipping from Reed mariculture or if you know someone like me who raises them. Here’s a microscope pic of one of my culture. This density was not difficult at all to produce. And I did it pretty fast.

Just boost your calcium and scrape your glass and rock to spread the corraline algae. If you really want to do it right, get a nice generous piece of corraline and pulverize it. Mix with calcium to make a slurry and broadcast it in yourtank.
