I started a tank cycle using dr tims ammonia and nitrifying bacteria I dosed per the instructions, ammonia 4 drops per gallon which raised my ammonia in the tank to2 ppm. The bacterieria went to work on the ammonia immediately and over night reduced it to about 1 ppm however my nitrite went off the chart I did dilution tests to bring it down to a readable level and it is somewhere around 10 ppm. Nitrate also shot off the chart to above 160 ppm for those that have cycled a tank before (this is my first) is this normal for nitrite to go that high, I know it will rise but didn't expect 10 ppm. If so do I just wait for the nitrite to start dropping or if not normal what do I do?

Nitrite will be converted to nitrate by bacteria.. and that nitrate will be processed by anaerobic bacteria within the rock usually... i would wait until nitrite is gone and keep cycling the tank
