New tank cycling, brown algae? Recommendations?

New tank cycling about 5-6 weeks. Salinity 1.025, water temp 79.3, PH 8.2, Ammonia 2.0, nitrite and nitrates 0

Anyone with recommendations what to do at this point? Never had brown algae like this before while cycling.

Yeah, it's about 6 weeks

Most likely diatoms and they will fade. New tank uglies. Happy reefing. Enjoy the addiction.

Yeah, I figured I haven't cycled a new tank in over 6 years. Can't wait for ammonia levels to go down lol

Probably diatoms as said above. Your CUC will likely get rid of it relatively quickly. Once I added the CUC after my last tank cycled it was gone in a couple of days.

With ammonia levels high, CUC is safe to put in?

Not sure how you are cycling your tank. Ammonia should read 0 before adding CUC. Are you using any nitrifying bacteria? I have used ammonia and bio-Spira when cycling and my cycle was just under a month.

Ammonia is going down, reading was at 2 2 days ago. tested it today and it's looking like 1
