So the chalice is gone, and the Aussie Acan is starting to show some recession. However the others seem to be okay, thoughts?

Aussie Acan on left. You can see white coral on the right corner, area getting larger :(

Nitrates and phosphates should NOT be at 0. You want them at least detectable so you're not starving your corals. Also, a 5 gallon water change is less than 10% of your water volume, so your ammonia at .1 will drop to .09 at most.

Ammonia was less than .25 (sliiiight yellow so couldn't confidently say 0) and nitrate was same, less than .5 but couldn't confidently say 0... It sounds like I'm just an idiot and added them too fast :(

We've all done that. Doesn't make us idiots, just impatient.

I just started a 10 gallon as my third tank. It seems easiest for me to add one coral at a time so i can see how they do individually and adjust for my alk and calcuim consumption slowly. Of course online fish stores dont promote good habbits such as these with their $300+ free shipping, but usually your local fish store will order anything you want if you ask them, and not charge you shipping.

Nitrate and Phosphate does not need to be Zero, sorry if this has been said, replied before I read the full thread

So far the remaining frags seem to be hangin on well! Ammonias down to 0, reduced salt slightly, and Alk is up at about 9.5 now. Things seem to be going well, lets hope these guys pull through and flourish :)

Some levels including salinity a tad high. In addition, most of these frags are best in a well seeded tank which is not the case with ammonia and nitrate levels.
Focus on seeded rock and frags such as zoa, mushroom and leathers to begin your introduction of coral.

Yeah I realized that after some additional research and talking to LFS. I'm picking up a mushroom, zoa, and a few other hardier ones today :)

We've all been here. When I first started w/ my 29 cube, I wanted to add corals so fast that I lost a xenia. I LOST A XENIA lol the one coral that grows like a weed. Either way, they were/are superb corals. I hope some bounce back. Keep us updated.

i think your tank is too young for some of those pieces. nothing wrong with your no3 and po4. tank usually gake about a year to fully mature and build those beneficial Bacteria colonies

Update: Have a total of 11 frags now and every one is doing great and has growth :P Problems resolved, only lost the one chalice at the beginning!

So I just got home and did a 5 gallon water change with fresh RODI water, ill test salinity later this evening. I left the powerheads off today and (aside from the chalice which is a goner) they look alright i think?

Also nitrites are 0, and ammonia is juuuuuust a tad yellow so im guessing .10. Obviously I shouldnt have any but hopefully with this water change they can pull through? Should I go ahead and take the Chalice out of the tank? The possibly mislabeled ACAN (6th photo below) doesn't look great either

The problem I’ve had is that I try to save a dying xxxxxx in my display tank. Meanwhile while it dies it’s producing all kinds of bad things. This is probably heresy but seeing that chalice I would have removed it to another tank or tossed it in an attempt to save the rest. Interested to here what others have to say

Yeah thats what I did actually, removed the chalice when I found it in that state. And the others are all doing well now :)
