New Tank, Diatoms, Nitrate 20ppm

Trochus snails and nassarious snails are a good clean up crew. I pick up and put my Trochus snails on the areas to work on. Nassarious help with the sand bed.

1-2 blue leg hermits. My red was a butt and ate things. I've read that blue are less inclined to consume tank mates.

Also I was told to quit running lights for diatom algae to lower.

Keep up with RO water changes. Also just making sure you are using RO water for your water changes?
I always wondered if hermit crabs are even required? I feel like they eat a lot of snails and other livestock that I like in the tank

Not required. They're neat, but not allowed in my tank. They have sharp little claws, and walk all over my corals, poking them making them unhappy.

They are good at eating food that has been left behind but I will stick with my Sally Lightfoot crabs :)
