i’m am currently setting up a new tank, and conveniently, my current tank is having a dino outbreak. i was planning on moving my corals, fish, etc to the new tank, but don’t want to transfer any dinoflagellates. what should i do

If its a brand new tank then the dino outbreak is part of it cycle and maturation. It will go away by its own.

Never knew dino outbreak was part of a cycle. Diatoms yes never knew dino

are you perhaps getting diatoms and dinos mixed up?
diatoms will go away quickly as part of the cycle. dinoflagellates generally require stable nutrients that never bottom out and possibly alternative treatment depending on strain.

Freshwater dips is supposed to kill dino but it's not going to reach every spot even with a dip. So it will end up in there. When you buy corals and fish you will likely bring some in at some point anyways.

The key is to make conditions unfavorable.

thanks everyone but this thread is old and i already set my new tank up. i decided to play it safe and just buy new rock.

Doing a water change when you have dinos is like throwing water on a grease fire
