That’s what the bacteria in the bottle is for. The bacteria eat the ammonia.
Dr tims is the best. It has several types of bacteria.
Bio spira has one , and dr Tim is the one who made the formula.

Grab some bio spira and use the rest of the dr tims you have over the next couple weeks.

They should have an ammonia badge as well. Or you can order one online. They are not expensive.

Prime is the best and most common ammonia remover. But using it can mess with the api ammoina test.
But it would not be a bad idea to buy a small bottle.

I have seen and talked to folks who’s tanks have cycled in a week or so with dr tims.

My water parameters at 7.57ph 0nnitrates and nitrites and 1 ppm ammonia. I bought marineland nitrifying bacteria because both petco and PetSmart didn’t have bio spira. Is there anything else I can do to help the cycle along.

In a recent study that i conducted and is in its second stage. Fritz Turbo Start 900 dropped 8ppm ammonia to 0 in 2 days.
If you got some you can use 5 x the dose and I guarantee you 1ppm ammonia will be zero in few hours.

I haven't tried the tank transfer method of quarantining, but could you simply move them from bucket to bucket of saltwater (fresh saltwater) every few days? While the transfers would be stressful, it may help deal with ammonia.

If you have to you can buy some salt water from you LFS and if you tell them what happen they might give you some out of there tank and it already have the bacteria that you need to get rid of the ammonia that you need.

I would also feed lightly for a couple of weeks as well so you don't over load your tank.

I would say use TTM method for QT that will at least buy your tank 12 days to cycle. The fish really should be observed for an additional 30 after ttm before entering the display though. Since you're starting new now it might be easier to take these extra steps today vs tearing down your tank to catch sick fish later.

I did order through live aquaria divers den so they have been quarantined already.

2 myths i like to clear up here.

1. LiveAquaria DD is not quarantined livestock. its just an upgraded stock they take pics of and a higher end kept in a different system than their regular holding tanks. Its by far from being quarantined. So one should qt on their own.

2. Buying water from established source does not bring bacteria with it (maybe a free floating a little) not enough to even put a dent. This bacteria stick to substrate and rocks etc not water. Buying water from another tank will probably bring its nastys more that its bacteria.

i do have an lfs that has live rock but i wanted to stay away from anything like that since i have brought nothing into the tank because i used cured rock. is that something i should even be concerned about?

for the same cost, ammonia remover vs fritz turbostart 900. one will only remove ammonia and will need to be dosed continuously till bacteria colonizes. while turbo start will give you instant cycle and not worry about ammonia again.

RO is important to prevent a buildup of minerals in your water over the long term, but you can use dechlorinated tap water in a pinch.
