New tank first water change ???

When setting up a new reef tank when should you do your first water change? Im hearing the first week and also hearing dont touch the water for a 4-6 weeks

Whenever the cycle is complete. Do a huge one to bring down nitrate.

You may not have high nitrates after the cycle depending how you go about it. I only had a mini cycle due to starting with live rock and seeding the tank so I only had 2 parts nitrate, no massive reason to do a large water change in that situation. Just added my first fish so i'll be keeping a close eye on all levels over the next few days.
