Hello all!
We're on day 9 of cycling my 6g Fluval Edge. LFS said my test came back great, it's doing exactly what it should.

I've noticed little growths on my live rock that weren't there before. Pics attached- hope you can see. They almost look like little Kenya Tree(s). There are quite a few of them and they move.

Any idea what they are? Should they be kept? Removed?

Thanks for your wisdom!

Looks like GSP to me, can you tell the color of the polyps?

Clove Polyps

Depends, some like GSP tend to be extremely aggressive towards other coral, others can grow to plague condition but folks like how that looks and so don't mind them.

Cool- thanks!
It will grow over everything so be prepared for that or make sure that rock is separate from your main rock [emoji4]

I keep GSP on a separate rock and like it. Clove polyp are very similar in spreading and aggressiveness

Thanks for this info. Thankfully it's on a stand-only rock. But I'll keep an eye out. I can't believe it's so visible and (seemingly) active after only 9 days!

Thats what got me hooked. Life is pretty amazing.
Its a Very good sign your tank is on the right track and having a happy happy cycle.

See any brittle stars yet?:)

Haha! Yes! That was going to be my next post. On the same rock there's a little white star that appeared outta nowhere!

EDIT* but I think it's an Asterina not a brittle star....according to Google?

No sweat, Im stoked for you. Its a GREAT indicator.
BTW im guessing you used live sand and live rock mixed sea water. with the life popping up like that, your tank is/has cycled. Still young and needs so stabilize, but your in like flynn.;);)
Check the params and watch the ammonia, id bet close to zero, and may never spike on you.
Congratulations.
CUC coming soon to a tank near you!:)

I'm excited! Yeah, live rock, Caribsea, and mixed water. I had my LFS test water on Tuesday. My guy there said give it another week and then add CUC!

I saw/was reading about this ****** little crab I wanted to get that looked like he had a spiked battle shell...but I can't remember the name. Any guesses?

EDIT: Found it! The Staghorn Hermit Crab. Know anything about them?
