I've been in the hobby for 5 years now and I have a 75 gallon, non drilled, glass reef tank and I wanted to upgrade.

I came across an ad on CL today for a 100 gallon acrylic tank and I ended up trading a favia frag for it. Here's the thing... it's what I think they call a Uniqaurium? It has a built in overflow with about six or seven compartments in the back before reaching the return lines. I've never seen anything like this and I'm wondering how to set this up... or should I try and cut that all out and just drill the two sections I really need.

If anyone has any diagrams or pictures of what it's supposed to look like when it's all setup that would be great.

Sounds like you picked up a SeaClear System II or TruVu ??? these were kind of the original AIO setups. Below is a few pics of my old 75g System II that I modded a bit for improved performance. Let me know if this looks similar. Originally they had room for a small skimmer in first chamber then heater then filter pads draining into bio-balls then to a tiny return pump going back into display through a spray bar of sorts. I modded for a sump/fuge by drilling for 1" drains and then a 3/4" return with excess going back through original spray bar. Hope this makes sense..........

bulkhead for return

I thought I could find newer pics of how the plumbing ended up..... had to switch up the T to top on line going to spray bar so as not siphon and placed a slip 90* on one of the drains with a 6" or so length of pvc for a emergency thus fully submerging primary (Herbie style)

Cheers, Todd

It looks something like that. I have attached some pictures to give you an idea. I was wondering if it is possible to remove the inserts or would I have to cut the acrylic? If I could do that, I would drill the tank on both ends and remove all f the inside "guts" and make it a traditional drilled tank.
