Correct. Some lights (of the wrong spectrum or too strong) will actually hinder the chaeto from growing. One of those small LEDs from inTank is more than enough. You just need to make sure and trim it every once in a while. That is the main reason for it.. nutrient export.

Welllll, my LFS owner totally just gave me more to debate.. I told him I was looking for a new tank and he can get a 60g rimless cube, with corner overflow, drilled, for a very good price. Overall pricing for a 60g might be out of my budget tho.. I would have to get another mp10 or even an mp40, upgrade my skimmer and get a new return pump. decisions decisions

No the back is not transparent on the jbj 30g. A 60 gallon rimless would be really nice.

I just wanted to weigh in on your rock question. You definitely do not want to boil your rock - toxins can be released into the air despite that it's been air drying for a period of time and can be quite harmful. I would probably bleach it, dry it out, then cure it in a big tub of some sort with a powerhead and heater (I suppose the heater would be optional). You may want to test your rock as it cures because it could still release phosphates (since you mentioned that the rock had had a lot of GHA on it). You can water change the cure container until it registers no more phosphate. Just my .02.

Its been drying out for at least a month. maybe two, in the sun. Not that that makes any difference and i plan to bleach it, just haven't gotten around to it with school and work. It would still need to cure after being bleached?? It won't be completely dead? How long does it take LR to stop leaching PO4? It's at least 2 years old. I have read that bleaching it and giving it a good rinse in RO after is plenty. I've never done it, so I will take all the advice I can get. Thank you for chiming in btw.
