Quik question on dosing. Tank is new, been running about 2 months. So far I just have a couple clownfish, a couple snails and a cleaner shrimp. Haven't had time to do much more with it lately. I've got the Neptune DOS/DDR.

I started the tank with live sand and dry rock. I initially dosed the tank by hand to get the levels right. I thought about about starting to dose maybe 1-2 ml's a day or some small nominal amount to 1. Check to make sure the equipment is working properly and 2. Maintain Alkalinity. The tank does consume a small amount of ALK, although not much. I do see a tiny bit of coralline algae showing up so I though this might help promote that as well. So, the question is is this a bad idea considering my extremely low demand at this point? I don't want to throw everything out of whack

Im not sure I understand the question. You want to dose 1ml per day via apex? Id say thats fine. Just check alk daily and adjust as needed.

Yeah pretty much. Mostly just as an equipment check and to promote coralline algae. The demand is very low so I just picked a small amount to start. Plus the DOS/DDR is a new toy and can't stand not playing with it anymore. Haha

Haha i know. Generally the higher the alk gets the more they demand. You could also set it up to dose a few times a day if you dilute it more with water.

I'm in the same boat. New system, going with Core7 for alk/calc/trace... starting dose will be LOW.

I'm going to be dosing straight RO/DI water into a measured beaker for the rest of this week, until I can start to trust my CoralBox dosing pump... then, on to the Core7 :)

Oh, you might look into a Hanna Alk dKH checker. I just ordered one.. BRS did a video on the thing last week, looks like a good way to get consistent, accurate Alk readings for this sort of thing.

I'm in the same boat. I need to increase the demand for alk. Just too few corals at the moment.
