New tank is this algae good or bad

I’m new to the hobby got last month finally got my light 2 prime 16hd , and now my rocks are cover on this green algae is this good or bad ... tank is about 2 1/2 months old

Thanks I thought soo , I posted some pics on a fb group and they were say that’s really bad you going to destroy your tank , and I had my local fish guy come over my house just the other day and he said my tank was on good shape ... so I was just freaking out for a min ... thanks for taking time to help out I really do appreciate

No problem. Half the fun of this hobby is learning about all the weird stuff that grows in your reef and why. For what it’s worth, I’ve found this forum to be the best with advice. Some serious scientists and reef keepers here so always feel free to fire out questions. Have fun!

Agree with others here. A whole lot of changes coming your way as the biome develops and different organisms & bacteria thrive and are then outcompeted by others. The green stuff is common, then some rusty brown diatoms on the sand, then some brown stuff, then some furry brown stuff, maybe a little hairy green algae, and finally some small pink/purple circles here and there. All good.

Just focus on keeping temperature and salinity STABLE while it does its thing. Practise and perfect your water change routine (15-20% every other week) so that it is quick/easy and does not affect tank temp and salinity. Start researching and collecting the basic (but quality) test kits. Learn how to recalibrate your refractometer.
