So I plan on starting my first reef tank in the next few months and I have a question about lights. I plan on purchasing the innovative marine lagoon 25 gallon tank. Since it is a shallow tank, only 12” I was wondering if these lights would be good for the tank. I don’t really want to invest a ton in lighting but I would like to keep a variety of corals down the road. Nothing super hard to keep. Thanks. https://www.marinedepot.com/AquaMax...r_Aquariums-AquaMaxx-UJ94548-FILTFILD-vi.html

!!! Welcome to R2R !!! That light looks good for softies and also have a good review on the site. Maybe some other members use that light and can give you another suggestions.

Ok now I am open to suggestions on lighting. What would be the best for this tank without going over $300?

+1 on the AI Prime

Or, 2x Kessil A160, or 1x Kessil a360

Welcome to R2R! I would start with an AI Prime HD. A little bit more expensive than the light you suggested but it has more power and the control-ability is top notch. You could start with one mounted high at first and if you get into corals that love light, you could lower it and add another. WiFi control is out of the box with no adapters needed. Control with your phone/tablet/computer from anywhere. If you end up getting an Apex down the road, you can even set up a schedule through the Apex without any adapters. I started with one of my 40B and now have two. I can expand even further bu putting them in a T5 hybrid fixture if I see fit later.

AI Prime. I see them for sale pretty often for approx $150. Contact user @Rakie. I know I saw him sellling one. Then you could buy another later on to upgrade if needed.

I run a kessil a360 on my IM lagoon. If I could I would go with a Hydra26hd. I like the spectrum they put out and the easiness of crontrolability through a smartphone.
