My lovely wife surprised me with a IM nuvo 40 for my birthday.
I e picked up an ro/six 4 stage filter and will add to it if needws.
I have sand and rock and salt.

I'm going back and forth on two things.
1. Lights
2. Powerheada.
I'm planning mostly softies and LPS with possible SPS down the eoad.
My lighting choices are
Cheap...1 or 2 AI primes
Not Cheap. 1 Orphek atlantik compact that I can use when I up grade to a larger tank. ( which I will in a few years.)

Power head
1 Gyre
Or
1 aquami wavemaker

Help me out guys.

Well that sounds like a great gift from your lovely wife!

I suppose it depends on your budget etc., I always get the better stuff but that’s me and you generally get what you pay for.

And welcome to R2R as well!!

PS we need a build thread with lots of pictures as well!

Welcome to reef2reef! Let's see if we can get some opinions.

You will need the RO/DI unit. A mixing station would be helpful.

AI's are a nice light fixture.

I have the rodi unit and have a sort of mixing station planned to. A 55 gallon holding tank for the RoDi water that will empty into five gallon bucket for saltwater.

I am of the opinion that I'd rather save up for the orphek lights and have no idea on the wavemakers.

Thanks I will read up on that thread. So much to learn. I've been reading here for months and am just scratching the surface . I figure hands on experience will help my knowledge growth exponentially.

Your welcome. Wavemakers, well I can't afford ecotech mp's, so it's just been jeabos for me. Tunze makes very good pumps. Cheaper than ecotech, but more than I can afford right now.
