New tank, new tang, new problems?

So I’ll make this quick. Long story short, I have a new 125 gallon tank. A week old with dry rock that I dosed with bacteria. I haven’t tested for nitrates yet but tomorrow doing a 20% water change. I also have two clownfish in the tank, from my old tank two hermit crabs and an urchin (algae is starting to form on rocks and the glass)

Here’s the conundrum. By fate? Luck? Idk. I went to a pet store and came across a sailfin tang in a 5 gallon tank, with no filter or oxygenated moving water (1.5”) . He was listless. Owner informed me he didn’t order the guy and sold him to me for $15. Being a softie I felt bad and ‘saved him’ now… he’s doing great. Eating. Moving. No sign of stress. Wonderful! But my tank is obviously still cycling. I’m daily dosing bacteria. I have near 100 lbs of live rock in the tank. Now what. I wanted to add tangs last, now I have one almost first with my clowns. When should I add a second tang ( I want to add before the juvenile becomes a monster and won’t allow another) and what about adding other fish? When should I?

I know. I put the cart before the horse here but with good intentions. Advice? Anything?

Assuming ammonia and nitrites at zero then tang better off then previous. Seems no choice but find out.

You state you have 100 Lbs of live rock in the tank. If it is truly live rock, then you have no issues regarding cycling, as you are already cycled.

It’s dry rock with daily bacteria dosing. I wanted to add another tang soon with the rescue tang but don’t want to bomb my tank. However thank you! I think our rescue tang is going to do great because he’s all over the place and eating reallly really well.

That being the case, I would suggest you monitor closely and maybe refrain from adding any new stock for a couple of weeks, just to be sure.

Fritz Turbo Start 900 at 5x dosage might help. Supposedly one of the best and currently sitting in my fridge for emergencies and next build. Can't hurt.
