Hi! I am just about to order a new tank, but I am a bit worried. My old tank is established with lots of corals, fish and other livestock. I am planning on transferring it all to the new tank, but also add lots of new dry rock, and also new sand. I will also have to add atleast 40 gallons of newly mixed sw.
Will I see any major issues with cycling or nutrients, and will my corals and fish be able to just trasfer over, granted that my established live rock and bio media is transferred first?
Is there any important aspects to take into consideration when transferring fish and corals directly from one tank to another, with new sw and lots of new dry rock and new sand?
Thanks for any tips and advice!

all I can say, is that I went from a 65 to a 125 and what I did:
new sand and put in 1/2 of old sand after I rinsed it in RODI
same rocks, plus 25# of new dry rock
50% of the water then added back my things. I had dino's, but everything was fine mostly. I did get the green algae on the new rocks, but is now red coraline. all was fine, until I started getting panicked over red sea test results, and reading them wrong. Now I'm working on that.

Thanks! I am prepared to deal with some uglies the first couple of weeks, as long as the livestock is fine! I am so excited but so anxious at the same, I dont want to kill any of my livestock!

I get it. but if the rock is coming from an established tank, and you bring in some of your old sand (rinse it) it'll basically all but skip a cycle, if I understand correctly. I also forgot to mention...I also used my media for about a week, from the old tank. Not sure if I should have or not, but it didn't seem to hurt anything. Like I said, I did fine until I realized I wasnt smart enough to read the Red Sea kit, so I got one that's color coded. Much easier :)
