Any suggestions cat Peed on dry rock six months ago and I forgot to rinse them before I put them in the tank and the water won't clear up and skimmer overflows at any water height and my whole room smells like cat tick

This is my masterpiece is a work in progress I just needed to set it up as quickly as possible to get it cycling to get my coral in it from my old tank

If it were me I would start the whole process over again..... easier to do it now in the early stages. Plus you may have issues for a long time...

Drain the tank, pull the rock and hose it down and let it dry. If it still smells cure it in a trash can with a powerhead and carbon. Otherwise run carbon and purigen in the sump with heavy skimming.

Yea my main concern was long term problems, I wish I hadnt forgot to wash them before:mad: I just changed 3 gallons of water on my existing tank(been running for a year) and added some sand from there and the water i took out and put it in the new tank hopefully for the bacteria. Vivid aquariums LA said it just needs to run its cycle. Should I still rinse the rock tho, I dont want to pull the sand because its an acrylic tank and would be a real P.I.T.A
Thanks for the help
