Thank you for the welcome and the reply.

If this is the case what do I do about it?
Increase flow, run 100 micron filter socks, and combine a flocculent like KZ reef snow with heavy skimming. It should clear up pretty quickly.

After being out of the hobby for a few years we decided to fire the old tank up. It sat empty inside the house for about 3 years. The rocks were dried and packed away in the garage. After giving all of the equipment a good cleaning we put water in 2 days ago. Today we have round white particulates floating on the top of the water (see photo). In the sump there are white clumps.

All the details I have...
150g display (currently running 3 wave makers and return pump)
40g sump (has skimmer sitting in it but not currently running and heater)
Prime added to RODI water in tank
Salinity was 1.021 yesterday today is 1.019
No other parameters tested at this point

An idea what's happening here?

This likely has come off the sand or sediment from the sump and has floated and it seems you have insufficient flow at the overflow and you need to open the flow some more so it's not pooling at the box

Hello and Welcome to R2R! I remember that I rinsed my sand before placing in the tank and the water had the same particles floating at the top. I did several rinses before most of it was gone. Once I added water to the tank, I had some particles floating which were then gone after they went into the overflow. Hopefully that's all that you are dealing with.

Welcome to your new home for saltwater reef aquarium resources and fun! Welcome to the family! :D

Thank you for the suggestions. I haven't changed anything and it's already gone this morning... Is that odd?
