We just bought a house and are currently renovating it before we move in. I have identified a great spot for a new 100gal tank in the basement against a wall that divides the finished and unfinished areas. I have been reading about tanks that are plumbed through the wall to a sump on the other side and I am curious what are the pros/cons of doing so? Obviously unfettered access to the sump is a huge plus but what else should I consider?
The unfinished area where the sump would be houses our gas furnace, gas water heater, and AC air exchanger. Will this cause issues managing pH? Also, will a 30gal sump be an issue humidity wise?
I really like the idea of having an external overflow but still having the tank pushed against the wall. This would be a win-win unless I’m overlooking something important.
