hi all

so I’m looking for a little advice on what to do .

my 75g seal is stating to come away on one of the front corners so before it costs me more in repairs etc and loss of all the live stock I’ve decided to bite the bullet and gets a New tank due to need but insead of getting same size going to go large

what I’m looking at is the waterbox 220.6 it’s huge and have the room just for it with a little shoe horning if you get my drift lol

now the only prob is that I have a outbreak of aptasia in the tank that means I don’t want to move an from the old to new except 15 ish fish still smallish , 2 BTA and a toad stall ( not a lot of corals really had a problem fish before I could rehomed it pretty much eat all my soft corals )

anyone have a good idea what’s the best way to basically setup a new tank in the shortest time point of sale without causing loss as I can’t run both side by side for long as most the eauipment from the old will have to move to the new?

I know there’s the possibility of transfusing the aptasia on pumps etc so plan to clean them in citric acid or boiling water before there introduced to reduce the risk of that if thats possible

will be using new live sand and some sort of real reef rock to start the tank but it the worry about loosing the fish etc in the process that worry’s me most.

I assume you're planning for a new return pump on the new system? That's all you really need at the outset. If you don't or can't move any of your established rock over, you can always insta-cycle the tank with something like Bio-Spira. Just calculate how much you need, have that on-hand - and when the tank is filled with saltwater, add any new rock, the bacteria - and then your fish.

Agreed. Make sure to seed the tank properly or even get some bacteria like Dr tim's one and only so that the ammonia wont spike in the new tank since the new rocks will be dry. If you can move a bit of sand from the old tank to the new it will help out as well since sand contains a ton of bacteria.

my old tank runs of 2 ecotech s2‘s at the sec so was planning on moving them over point of sale one first to get the flow stated then adding the second it to share the load and as a backup in case one fails though a t piece to the return line with non returns valves

so one can stay in the original tank for wile if needs be

will be new heaters from the start thinking point of sale 3 dd titaniums 300w this time though the dd controller Ive got on the old one at the sec ( old heater has inbuilt temp controller so can run independentl to
