Hey guys been out of the loop for a while setting up a brand new 40 gallon breeder Built-in overflow 20 gallon sump custom built just want to get some ideas on whether or not I should set up my protein skimmer the rock is re saver so obviously I came out of the ground does not the really on it except maybe silicates in the sand is dry sand I use doctor Tim's to see the system and that I started using microbacter7 Should I wait a little bit before I sat the protein skimmer and I got a reef octopus 130 essence And as normal I have a lot of Brown algae growing Which I know runs for 2 weeks or maybe a month or longer sometimes just wanna get some thoughts and ideas everybody's experience is different?

I'd run it to break it in. You can leave the cup off so you dont have to worry about paying attention to it in the meantime.

Just curious to find out do you use chato I have a small piece it's tripled its size of the last 3 days . I'm thinking this would be a good way to remove excess nutrients In combat the Seattle bacteria

I don't I use an ATS. But yeah Chaeto is great at removing nutrients and is a good macro algae.
