Hey everyone, good morning! Well I bought this tank from someone online And the tank is brand new. No scratches and had never seen water. It still had the stickers on it when I got it.

Well as you can see in the pictures the Seam has an air bubble for some reason. Is the tank ruined ? I filled it up half way to test for leaks but I’m a bit scared to fill it passed the compromised seam.

In the silicone? I’m not sure, but couldn’t you just remove that area and re-seal it? That is how they are put together to start with.

I’m not sure if that is the proper fix, but I am 99% sure that thing isn’t ruined, and likely an easy fix

It looks like a chip/crack in the glass from the picture

It’s not a chip I double checked it’s 3/4” glass brand new. It’s definitely the silicone.can I just send in a bit of extra silicone where the seams meet ?

This is the side view. It’s definitely the silicone it’s not chipped or cracked in that area.

Don't worry it won't burst there is plenty of silicone holding the glass up and down the seam. It won't leak because the bubble does not go all the way through the seam and there is the inner seam for additional protection. I have built a few tanks and would feel comfortable.

if it is just the silicone its no good just applying silicone over it as you will still see it, either remove a small section either side and re-apply silicone, but you will still see where it joins the existing, or remove all the silicone from the edge and re-apply silicone to the whole length, or live with it !!

Trying to reseal that seam entails taking the entire tank apart to do it correctly. Like I said before, personally I would leave it as is.

Yeah I really don’t want to reseal the whole thing. I’ve never done it before and I don’t have the right material to do the job. Jtl says he builds tanks and he says it’s alright that gives me a peace of mind

I think I have seen this bubble before. If its not a chip and just a bubble I would say its ok. Pretty much cosmetic. If you move the tank a lot then it could become a prob as it is the weakest point of the seam. Do not try to fix this. Silicone will not stick to dry silicone nor dirty glass. Like said before, you will have to take the whole tank apart. Unless you have done this a bunch of times, you will be left with a mess.
