I am in the market for a new tank. What I am looking for is a 48x30x25 no center brace if possible. My LFS came back with a price quote that was pretty good, but a couple of things I want your opinion on, I don't do anything without a second opinion . Since I don't want a center brace, the tank maker said he will make the tank out of 3/4 inch glass, other than being really heavy, any down side to glass that thick and how does having 3/4 inch glass help in not having a center brace? The second thing, the tank will have a PVC bottom, have heard of this, but have never seen a tank with a PVC bottom, any down side here?

Just guessing here but a downside to having thick glass might be a hint of green while looking through it unless you go starfire. 3/4 helps provides more contact area at the where the glass butts up together providing more integrity.
