Hey all,

Wondering if you would be worried about the seams on this 40 breeder. Brand new tank up for about a week.

Thanks!

I knew the answer but didn’t want to hear it lol.

The seams have already gone back to normal with 3/4 of the water out and pressure being relieved.
I think these small bubbles are somewhat common - that said if you're concerned - return it. But - I would expect you might see the same issues with the new tank if you buy the cheaper brands. It seems like everyone now is concentrated on bubbles (which I have seen for 30 years without question)

Ummmm.. that’s 1/4” thick glass and the silicone has pulled away half way… that leaves a seal of 1/8” it’s not acceptable.. he said it went away when he drained the tank so it’s clearly gonna fail!

Not sure where we're disagreeing. re-read what I wrote. I said these issues are common with cheap tanks. I said I've seen bubbles for 30 years - true. I never recommended he keep the tank - or not buy a new one - instead I said 'that said if you're concerned - return it. But - I would expect you might see the same issues with the new tank if you buy the cheaper brands."

Got it! It sounded like you were saying that’s common don’t worry about it! Lol… or return it if you want.

I’m back lol- with the same issue on a new tank. Why would this issue be on the top when it’s not even full all the way yet?

Apologies, what is the issue, what kind of tank, what size, and did you do a leak test? I'm sorry I cannot tell what you're looking at in the pictures you provided.

Being an owner of two Red Sea tanks that are up and running, I can say this :)

"When did RS start making 40G breeders?"

I’m actually seeing a lot of post online with the same exact issue. they have contacted aqueon and they say this is “normal.”

given that it’s happened in back to back tanks- I’m not sure what to believe

thoughts?

I'll tell you my recent experience. I drilled a 20g aqueon and it began to leak from the bottom, much like a red sea leak. I wrote it off as me using a bad stand and drilling the holes too fast. The second tank I got has not had any issues, but regardless I didn't see bubbles in either of the tanks in the seams like that.

Tanks don't just burst all at once, I'd say if your concerned just leave it full of water for 1 to 2 weeks and see how it does. As of right now with the pictures provided of the current tank, I personally don't see any sort of immediate emergency.

Also might be worth following up with aqueon if they say this is normal I'd ask them exactly what is happening here because you have concerns, and rightly so

is that your joking way of say replace it?
'Bubbles' in silicone (I can't see them) are more significant when the 'bubble' is actually silicone peeling away from the tank. Not just air bubbles (tiny) in the silicone. Would you be able to take a close-up what you're concerned about? I'm sure it's nerve wracking for you.
