Hello everyone,

New here, and will post in the newb post thread soon.

Also, I will make a dedicated new tank thread for the progress of my tank.

But first quick question on using some old dry rock. This coral was used in a tank many years back, then dried out. It was then used about 2 years ago when I almost started up the tank again. It cycled for probably about 3 weeks before I had to pull the plug on the tank before it really ever got going. So the rock at that pint did not appear to have any biological growth, and did not appear to exibit any major die off. I am going to be cycling a new tank soon, and plan to use new live rock to seed this old rock. And would like to know what you guys reccomend for the preperation on the rock.

Can I just add the old dry rock into the tank and cycle?
Do I need to try the bleach thing?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

First off Welcome to R2R!!! Honesty if it were me I would just put the rock in and let it cycle naturally. But then again it’s personal preference. You will get multiple answers on this subject to be honest.
