Hi. I started cycling my new 80 gallon a few weeks ago with 40 kg of live rock. Over the weeks I've been fiddling with the rock as I was imagining how to get my aquascaping right. Finally nailed it yesterday. Now I have a layer of fine dust / particles on the bottom of my tank. I'm planning on putting in sand (not live) just around the front and sides but am wondering if I should siphon out the dust first. Any suggestions?

The dust is just tiny chunks of your live rock (assuming you rinsed it before adding it) and overtime that ends up your tank anyway. You don't have to remove it. But let everything settle down (sand, etc) long long before livestock goes in. You need to let it cycle and mellow out anyway.
