New tank set up

So I've taken the plunge and got a secondhand marine tank with all ness equip skimmer etc.
This came with rock, also previous owner gave me bucket sand.
The above has been dry for couple weeks, can I just place these in tank or should I rinse sand (with ro water)
First marine tank - finding this site so helpful

I would seriously reconsider putting that sand in there. Depending on how well that tank was kept would determine if I would reuse it or not. To lean on the side of caution I would get new. You don't want to inherit someone else's old problems. If you decide to use it, a good rinse certainly would not hurt. Welcome to the forums!
