I am setting up a new 180 gallon tank (at least new to me). My wife signed off on the purchase!

I am going to have an electrician setup a dedicated set of outlets serviced by a 20 amp breaker (GFCI). Will this be sufficient? I thought this would manage most everything that needs plugged in. Then I thought the existing outlets in the room could handle some of the ancillary things that need plugged in.

That will be more than enough. You won't even come close to using it all unless you install metal halide lighting and a chiller.

Should be plenty. Most equipment these days are very power efficient. I have my tank on a 20amp circuit that also powers my dining room so with having your tank on a dedicated circuit your one step ahead of me. If you add up the amperage your equipment uses you'll find its actually pretty low.

Some will recommend two gfci outlets, just to have life saving equipment on both in case of false trip.
