hi

I finally finish setting up the 50 gallon cube with my first fish in a separate tank going through quarantine ( the fish seems to be happy and growing ).

Now back to the 50 gallon tank, I am using a Jebao OW40 wavemaker, and CaribSea Arag Alive Special Grade Reef Sand.

The issue I have is that if I put the wavemaker at the back panel, the sand gets blow away too many directions, and formed "islands" and empty spots in the tank. Now I put the wavemaker on the side panel, it is a bit better, but it still moves the sand bed for sure.

I just "rearranged" the sand slightly and made the water cloudy again.

How do you handle this type of issue? Is that because the wave maker is too powerful?

Try moving it straight back, to the corner.

Then lower it an inch or 2 and aim it to the front left surface.

Don’t aim it “straight” or towards the bottom.

So, place it back right, and aim it to the front left surface

Bouncing it off a far wall is prob your best option at a lower speed. I have a 5' square tank and have more power heads set at lower levels than if I had a long tank with fewer power heads set on faster speeds.

That is very helpful. I just made the adjustment and will share tomorrow. Thanks !!!!

Great! Of course you will make adjustments from there, especially if your adding corals.

Let me know if you need any more help with anything.
