What are your plans for biological and mechanical filtration?

If you want to put fish in, yes. If it's coral only you can likely get away with it right away.

I plan on using filter socks, protein skimmer and a fuge. It would be coral only unless I need more nutrients later on but to begin just coral.

You should be fine then. I would put hardy and cheaper corals in at the beginning just in case. They'll prefer an established tank to thrive.
