Hey all. I have been in the process of setting up a new 180 gallon tank. But my question is I filled it up with ro water about three weeks ago to do a leak test as I was finishing up wall construction. I did put a powerhead in it to circulate the water so now I am ready to add my sand and rock to start cycling the tank. Is it ok just to add my sand and rock or should I drain and refill it? It took longer than I wanted to get this far only planned on a week or so but my lfs took a while to get my sand in. Any suggestions?
Thanks Cole

Hi Cole I would remove st least some of the water from the tank before placing the sand and rock in since those are going to displace some of the water.

Did you add salt yet? If not, then add the salt to mix. Then I would just rinse the sand really well and add it with the pumps turned off. Then put in the rock (or put in rock first if you prefer that). You can drain if you want but it doesn't matter much because it's going to be a huge cloudy mess for awhile.
