New Tank Shopping List

Hi everyone,

I'm upgrading my reef tank that only has a hang on the back filter and setting up my first sump! I have a 75 gallon tank with an overflow, but need to buy everything else still. Here is my shopping list. What am I missing? Any recommendations for things other than what I have on here? I'm not sure I picked the best items for everything, but this is what I've come up with based on my research. Thoughts/opinions appreciated!

1) Trigger Systems Sapphire Sump 34 in
2) Reef Octopus Classic 152 - S Protein Skimmer
3) CaribSea Arag-Alive Special Grade Reef Sand (100lbs)
4) JBJ True Temp Digital Controller with Heater - 300 Watt
5) Reef Octopus VarioS-2 Controllable DC Circulation Pump
6) 1 In flexibile PVC pipe (10 feet)
7) 3/4 Inch Clear flexible vinyl tubing (25 ft)
8) Two Little Fishies Micro Valve Barb x Barb (6 pack)

i think the varios 2 might be a bit under powered for your system

I agree I had it on my 65, with manifold,fuge,chiller it was a little small. I moved to the varios 6....way too strong lol but I still love it ,dead silent

Great! I'll look at the stronger varios. Dead silent is good for me because the tank will be in the living room. Would you recommend the 6 over the 4 for a 75 gallon or is it just paying for more than I need?

I have 2 AI primes and the Tunze Osmelator on my 40 Breeder, and those will be both be coming over to the new tank.

The varios is a return pump....right?

Yes it's a return, even with full syphon and all manifolds open the 6 is still too much. I think the 4 will be perfect!
