So Im getting close to getting the tank wet yay! My question is when is it time to Run something like Chemipure Elite... Can I do it right away? Once the first complete cycle happens or wait for the tank to mature. Im not planning on rushing as im starting as a Fowler then moving to corals once the tank matures some, but still want to minimize the ugly as much as possible. My understand {please correct} is that something like Chemipure will help to keep the ugly at bay but may slow down the bac as well possibly. 34G tank, RO/DI water, dry rock and sand. Thanks

I personally have never ran chemipure, but I don’t think the ugly stages are necessarily a bad thing just means your tank is on track. Especially with you using dry rock. But I’ll bump this so more can see! Congratulations on setting up the new tank! Don’t forget to start a build thread and get that badge!

I use this all the time. After week one, go Ahead and drop in. It will help control nitrate and phosphate

1. Let the tank properly cycled
You can learn how to cycle the tank here :

2. Don't turn on tank light, at least until ugly phase is over.

3. Plan on your stocking and go slow.

4. Chemipure in my believe is more toward corrective measurement rather than preventive. Therefore it's not a necessity.

As you can see there are many options on everything in this hobby.

Thats a good thing and should tell you there are many ways to do 1 thing correct.

The cycle should be a fun and knowledgeable experience so don't worry too much on doing it right or wrong. Your tank will mature with or without your help.

The one thing I would suggest is don't change things up a lot as stability is key.

Thanks for the responses, my only concern with the cycle was if adding the Chemipure Elite would slow down how fast the bac fills the system. Im going extremely slow to make sure im setup for long term sucess(plus slow is way easier on the wallet!!) so double checking my thoughts.

Chemipure is some kind of gfo, normally it's for phosphate controll.
There are so many kind of bacteria growing in the tank, i don't think Chemipure will slow down bacteria growth.
