Hey guys so I'm looking to start my first reef tank but can't decide what tank to go with. I'm deciding between the Innovative Marine Fusion 20, 30, 40. With the 30 I get the longest tank where as the 40 is a cube. I'm leaning towards the 40. Help me!

Yes I would definitely go with the 40 if this is your first saltwater tank bigger is ALWAYS better! You will have better luck trust me!
for stability i agree. however, bigger also means more expensive.
if your budget allows i'm with Nem. my first reef was a 120g :)

Maybe he should get a 500 gallon!

I never know what size and shape all these different models are. Makes it hard to have an opinion.

Bigger is better for a ton of reasons. Less parameters swings, more stocking options, more area for hardscape. Before buying a tank start looking at some of the inhabitants you really want to have. Then look at how many fish you can actually have with the tank sizes. New people usually tend to think they can have 15 fish in a 40 gallon, when really that number is about a third of that. Best to think about down the road before picking a path.

Thanks so much guys! Ill go with the 40. What do you think for lighting? Start with an ai prime hd maybe?

Lots of lights will fit a 40 cube just fine. I have 2 kessil a360s on my 90 gallon and love them. Can't beat the shimmer.

Ok now I'm thinking either the lagoon 50 ext or the 40 ext. My budget allows for either but I feel like it might be nice to have that extra 2 inches of height on the 40.
