So I am starting a new 220 gallon tank and looking to go semi aggressive in a way.....here is what I am thinking.
Puffers
Tangs
Lionfish
Angels
Triggers

Couple initial questions...
1. Are all those fish compatible?
2. Can I put some coral in with them...LPS or SPS?
3. Can I put starfish, snails, shrimp?
4. Anemone's?
5. What other types of fish can I add?....Like butterflies? Clowns?

Thank you!

Liveaquaria.com has a compatibility chart that will tell you. The site also tells you if a fish is reef-compatible or not. Good luck!

I would say those fish are compatible, you could probably add a clown pair with a more aggressive clown species... I wouldn’t do corals with those fish but anemones would work, just dont get butterflies with them. You probably couldn’t add many crabs shrimps and other stuff, but possibly a chocolate chip star.

@eatbreakfast.

The family names for each type covers a wide range of different species. Not all Triggers are going to work with the group, the same goes for Tangs, it really depends on the specific species within that group.

As Tahoe said, compatibility can vary greatly within these groups of fish.

There are some very aggressive triggers, puffers, and angels, and there are some very peaceful ones.

Also, some species from each of those groups do better with corals than others.

I don't like to see lions with puffers and triggers, as their long fins just seem to be irresistible to nipping.
