So I have a 280 Gallon tank cycled, what fish should I stock it with? I already have a Naso tang and a Powder Blue tang that are almost done with QT. What can I add with those 2 fish? I want a pair of Mandarins, but I may wait on that, as I just added pods a few days ago, and want the population to grow before I add them.

Good idea on the pods! Any idea what type of tank you are going after? Peaceful community, semi-aggressive, etc?

Probably Community, because I cant have any Predatory fish with mandarins, as they would get eaten. You may be wondering why I started with tangs, even though they can be jerks. The reason I started with the tangs, was because my Lfs had a Powder Blue tang that was eating (I Have had very poor luck getting them to eat at the Lfs) But I realized that if I wanted other tangs, I should get them at the same time to reduce aggression, so I got the Naso Tang that was in the same tank as the Powder Blue, and also eating.

A tank that size it would be cool to have a school of Anthias. It would also be kinda cool to have some small little gobies or blennies to swim around the rock. Might not notice them much but it would be a cool little surprise to get the occasional glimpse. If it were me though I would definitely add an Angel of some sort. Not sure if they’ll butt Head’s with the tangs though

I would not be against adding a Dwarf angels, I like the look of the coral Beauty. I plan on putting all the fish in first, an then adding the coral on at a time, so I can figure out what types of coral the dwarf angel might nip at. I made the mistake of adding a Flame Angel to my 28g cube after it was full stocked with coral, I could not catch that dang thing. I had to remove all of the coral to save it from being eaten. If I do add a dwarf angel, I will not make the same mistake again.

Yep, its 10x the size. Currently, the 28g cube does not have much coral, lost about 1/3 to the flame Angel, sold some others to get some money for the new tank. It has some Gsp and Xenia that are overgrowing everything else, thinking about removing most of it. The only corals that I plan on keeping long term are the 2 gold torch frags that the vile Flame Angel did not eat, as well as my single head Duncan. Those will be moved to the 280g after all stock list is complete, as well as my Tomato Clownfish, which I am hoping to pair up, she is about 5 years old, never tired paring Clownfish in the cube, but I think I might try it in this larger tank. The other fish will be sold, other than my lawnmower Blenny, which will be moved as well, to help with the ugly phase Algae. I just hope he does not fight with the tangs, I heard that they might try to take chunks out of the side of them.

Here is the video of the evil Flame Angel. I feel kind of bad, because I told the Lfs that it was a coral eater, so if someone wants to buy its, they warn them about that, and they don't end up buying it. It has been that way for about 3 months, and the Angel is still at the Lfs, which is suprising, since Flame Angels sell super fast in my area, despite both of the Lfs I go to stocking them weekly. I might just buy the Flame Angel so It can mow down the Xenia in my tank. Before it got removed, it was eating the Xenia, so after I move all of the other coral to the 280g, I will buy that Flame Angel back, and It will hopefully eat the Xenia, but then it is back to the Lfs for it.
