Hello! I just started my Biocube 16 about 8 days ago, and I tested my water today. I am a little confused by the results. I thought the only way to have nitrates was to have nitrites and no ammonia?

I have 20 pounds of live rock, and I used live sand.

Results:
Ph: 8.2-8.3
Ammonia: 0.5ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 10ppm

I am only planning on running a couple clown fish, a shrimp, some snails and a few coral/invertebrates.

Am I safe to put a clown fish, and a coral in yet?

I wouldn’t, I would let it run for a couple weeks, parameters can drastically change in a system that young. Clown fish you can probably get away with because they are bullet proof, but corals are hypersensitive.
