New tank what kind of filter do i need

I have a 300 gallon tank with 2 Banded catsharks

What kind of filter do I need to get in the future I may want to turn into a rea aquarium and may have to purchase in a different aquarium so I want to get a filter that would be good enough to handle this and also a Reef 300 gallons

show is the tank. is it drilled for over flow or just a standard glass box? if the latter no need to get a new tank ( if it's in good working order ) you got a couple option.

1. drill the back glass for an overflow box. there are a lot of makes out there a tins of YT vids on how to do this.
2. you can get a HOB overflow box but only trust lifereef overflow box as they dont loos siphon when power goes out.

then you will need want a sump it can be a DIY or fancy custom make one
depending on what you want to keep depends on the amount of filtration but most agree a protein skimmer is a bare min.
other like UV filter, refugium, roller mats.

watcha few build on YT or here on R2R or the BRS 52 weeks of reefing will give you an better idea what ppl are going like all hobbies there are many ways to do it.
