Well here is my tank. When i get home from my two weeks training I will be going to Reef Life and get all the goodies to get her up and running. Any comments or pointers will be welcome. As far as equipment my return will be a rio 1700, skimmer is an Aqua C Remora with the rio 1400, I will also be running a media reactor when everything gets up and running. I have a coral live UV sterilizer to run monthly or when needed. Water movement will be handled with two hydors and the smart wave controller. That's all I can think of at the moment. Total water should be around 60 gallons, display tank 45 gallons and 15 to 20 in the sump.

Hi Mark_Lide

Reef Light aquariums has the new Jabao wavemaker powerheads and has one of them setup on his display tanks. Even if you are not needing another powerhead, you should check it out. They look pretty impressive.

I see something that you may want to check into or consider. I really hate to be negative, but at the same time I wanted to give you my honest opinion that may or may not pay off down the road.

The first thing to note is that Home Depot/ Lowes check valves are not very durable, especially when you are talking about saltwater. I have one installed on my setup and it was a mistake because it failed very soon after it was installed. The thing about the one installed on your tank that concerns me is the combination of that plus how tall the baffles are. In the event that your check valve failed and caused a back syphon from your return line to the sump is there enough room to hold the water from the top of the display tank until the syphon was broken. Basically when water drained to the exit of the return. You may have already taken that into consideration, but just in case. From the picture its hard to tell, but its close.

The only reason that I mention this is that I would hate for you to have a flood during a power outage for something that could be prevented.

On another note, I hope you can make the next reef club meeting at Reef Revolution. All of us had a really good time. It was nice putting some faces to these threads.

Thanks
Randy
