I got my new PA rimless 60 gallon set up this weekend. I’ve got a question for you veterans here:

I transferred over 50 lbs of rock from and existing tank. I added 25 lbs of virgin dry rock.

I transferred over 20 lbs of sand from an existing tank. I added 30 lbs of virgin dry sand.

I transferred over 30 gallons of water from an existing tank. I added 30 gallon of virgin water.

I transferred several dirty filter pads from the existing tank to the sump of the new tank.

That previous tank only had a pair of clownfish, goby/ pistol shrimp, and CUC but has been running stable for over 6 months.

Should I expect the entire tank to have to cycle all over again? It has the minimal inhabitants as listed above. I’m just curious as to what to expect. I set the tank up Friday evening. Last night (48 hours after start up) I detected:

Proper PH
Ammonia: somewhere between 0 and 0.25 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0 ppm

Everyone is happy and eating but I’ve never detected ammonia in any of my cycled tank, so I’m concerned about it’s occupants. Again, any insight as to what I can expect?

!!! Welcome to R2R !!! Nice looking tank. If the live rock was in the water the whole time you shouldn't have no problem at all, may be a little cycle but your reading shows a little bit of ammonia. I will check in 24 hours and see what's the reading again. Also, make sure you have the right salinity.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful new tank with us. If you would like, I could move this over to the members tank forum and it can serve as your build thread. Let me know.
