I have a question I bought a domino damsel for cycling. I have a 29g standard 30" x12" x 18" and the fish I bought has ick. Should I treat the whole tank (which is on a 20g tall sump I made)that only has dry live rock and one small peace of live rock with coarline algae on it that I bought 2 months ahead of time seeding other small rocks for refugium. Should I treat whole tank or quarantine in hospital tank?

Do not treat the tank. That is, no drugs or medications in the tank. All fish need to be removed to a hospital tank and that tank treated. Your DT (display tank) now needs to sit fallow for a minimum of 76 days.

You need to remove the fish and put it in a hospital tank . As said above just let the tank sit you kinda jumped the gun and caused a problem you could have avoided. Nothing in this hobby is fast except tank crashes. Not a big deal everyone has a rush moment just learn from it. Read read read ask ask ask. And welcome to R2R

Welcome to R2R!!

Great advice for above. I don’t like seeing fish used for cycling, regardless of their cost.

Thanks for the advice the little guy died. I'm just going to let it cycle for a couple of months then thanks guys.

I started my first reef tank about a year ago and just used ammonium chloride to cycle. I like that way better because you can control how much ammonia you put in the tank. I think I kept ammonia levels at 2 ppm until it could diminish that and nitrites every 24hrs
