Hello All,

I have been with a hobbie a few years now and I have down sized tanks but never up-sized.

I currently have a 48ltr Nano and increasing to a 75ltr. My current rock is absolutely chocker with bristle starfish and I've had enough of them. So I'm putting new rock and sand in the new tank.

I'm guessing the tank will more than certainly cycle even If i was to use half of my current tank filter media and water due to the new rock?

Now I want to keep the old tank running until I am happy all my CUC that I want to keep are over.

So basically I'm after clarification that the new tank regardless of my media and water is going to cycle and it's just best to wait and test?

Or is this bacteria in a bottle stuff combined with some of my old water and media going to be ok?

I also use natural salt water so again guessing that will have more natural bacteria then just mixing my own salt water.

Hope this doesnt sound like to much waffle!

#WelcometoR2R!!! Keep in mind that the bacteria is primarily on the rock and other media and not in the water column. Adding additional bacteria to supplement is not a bad idea and may help shorten the cycling process. Congratulations on the new tank and good luck!

You will have a cycle, but it may well be so quick it will be hard to test for!

Congrats on the new tank. I just upgraded as well, from a 40g to a 90g (both tanks I built myself.

Are you buying NSW or are you someplace where you can collect it yourself?
