Hi! New setup! So excited! Starting aquascaping and rock transfer tomorrow!

Nice little package

Thank you! I do have some concerns and questions though.
I am planning to use most of the live rock in my existing tank as base rock, to keep the biological filter intact and my mandarin happy, and adding quite a bit of dry rock as well. My question is this: As I will be transferring a lot of the old rock first, I will be transferring a lot of corals with it which are growing on it, especially a huge and very beautiful BTA. I will obviously add some of the old tank water to cover live rock and corals, but assuming I will not be finished in one day, what else would the corals in the new tank need for a day or two apart from a heater? Power head? Lights? If only the fish remain in the old tank with heater, skimmer, wave maker, will they also need lights?
Also, maybe a silly question. My two clowns are in love with the BTA. Will they be OK without it for a day?

Put lights on the end of your list for needs corals can go days without lights so no worry there, fish, **** I would put money on fish could live on natural light in the room.

Focus on temp and movement, and you will be fine.

So...the transfer is almost complete. I have done the aquascape, moved over corals and fish, tested the water and now the tank is slowly clearing, skimmers, and pump working their magic. My question is this. I have used new dry sand in this tank. Will my sand sifting gob be OK or starve to death? I plan on rinsing some of the old sand tomorrow and adding to the tank. Is this a good idea?

If you rinse the sand you will most likely rinse anything beneficial from it so I’d skip the rinsing part. However, adding old sand will help see the tank with beneficial bacteria and other benthic life. So yes to adding sand, no to rinsing. Does your goby eat food from the water column as well when you feed your tank? If so it should be fine, Nice set up by the way!

This is it so far, two days after starting the new tank setup. Still cloudy, but what do you think?

Super excited! Transfer complete, the tank is up and running, everyone seems happy after the shock and I had no casualties, except a very small midas blenny who was a new addition to the old tank and somehow totally disappeared during the transfer. The tank has cleared now, so here is a daytime picture, lights off. What do you think?

it looks great! I wonder if your blenny is hiding in a rock crevice somewhere, hopefully he will turn up.

if your goby is anything like my diamond goby should be fine i will throw a whole cube of frozen food in and sometimes my goby will take the whole cube in his mouth and almost sift its pretty funny to watch but he defiantly eats plenty along with him eating nori with the tangs

Thanks. It started eating flakes and frozen, so I think it will be OK until the sand becomes how it likes it!
