new reefer here, just got my RS 170 filled.
I used live sand and carib rocks. I pre-rinsed my rocks but no the sand
Using RO/DI and a reefwave for flow (on low)
its been two days since my initial fill and my water is still cloudy - seems to have fine particles everywhere
Using sponge filter, and I just ordered some filter floss.

Should I put my carbon mesh in now? its more for organic filtration, but maybe since I used live sand that could help?

I was thinking about maybe a fine felt mesh sock to help, but not sure how to install a sock with my RS 170 - i dont have the sump upgrade, so i just have a media tray to use - but not sure if a sock will fit right in the media tray.

Any recommendations to get my water crystal clear at this very early stage appreciated!

The Carbon is the problem. IF you don't have any carbon in the tank it will most likely stay cloudy. I'd definitely add the carbon and filter floss. Red Sea sells filter socks that should fit your tank well.

Most likely from the unrinsed sand. Filter floss or a filter sock will help.

Welcome! Super fun hobby, and if interested check out my channel below! Might be some helpful stuff there for you. Cheers!

Also, I would wait on the carbon, just run filter floss

Interesting question to throw out! Is it best to add the carbon when you first setup your tank or a few days or weeks later?
