Ok, I am confused. Today I got my new Red Sea foundation Pro test kits, And these are the readings ;Nailbiting
MG: 1480
KH: 8.5
CA: 420

I looked around but I cannot decide if these are good numbers. ?
any help is greatly appreciated. all I add is AB+
Thanks

Mg is a little high but nothing to sweat.
Ca is fine.
Alk is fine.

I run 2 different tanks with 2 different readings so it really depends on what you have.
My SPS tank runs
Alk 8
Ca 430
Mg 1300

Lps/Zoa tank runs
Alk 11.5
Ca 450
Mg 1400

ok. I just did a water change yesterday. what is a good number for Mg? and, should I try to get it down?

min/max I’d say anywhere between 1250-1450 is fine. Ideally shoot for 1300-1350, but reef tanks are anything but ideal. I wouldn’t put too much effort in trying to lower it, it’ll come down little by little as your doing weekly water changes. A good thing to check out is to find a salt mix that closely matches your ideal parameters and use that one, less headache and calculating.

These are the parameters I follow for both my tanks.

well, I do water changes weekly. about 15 gallons each time. and, to be honest...I'm not exactly new at this, but I have been using API testing or through the LFS:confused:
This tank has had a few changes....60 gallon, 90 gallon, and now 125. But, since I am trying to actually "know" what "I" am doing...I want to nail it all down. social distancing and the lock down and all...

I use Reef Crystals, but I also put about 45 lbs of New dry rock into it, and almost a new complete sand bed, seaded with old....thought maybe that was it (about a month ago)

Thank You so much for the help!! I sincerely appreciate it :)

All parameters look fine and within norms.
Thanks. with a busy life and kiddos (Fosters we're adopting) life got too crazy to do it myself. easier to have LFS do. but then I wanted to really grow with my tank, so I am trying to be way more responsible. :)
