I have just about used up the initial batch of test kits that I bought when I set up my reef 7 months ago. I am about to buy another set and so I am seeking data and advice about what brands people are using and recommend. Feel free to note pros and cons of what you feel are the best and worst of test kits in the thread. The poll will run for 7 days. Thanks!

I really like the Salifert Test Kits. I use them for PH, Ammonia, Nitrate, Calcium, and Magnesium. I also have an Alkalinity test kit, but i've switched over to the Hanna digital tester for that. I mainly use the Salifert kit as a backup if I think the Hannah isn't reading correctly.

I use api for ph calcium nitrate kh ammonia and nitrite. I’m not crazy about the ca and kh though and the phosphate on is useless. I will try a different brand for those next time.

Currently using Salifert, but wish I'd have just ponied up for the digital Hanna checkers. $100 for 5 Salifert analog kits vs $240 for the quicker, more accurate digital.

Hanna for Alk, Red Sea for Cal & Mag. Tried NYOS mag test kit - readings were all over the place during 3 similar tests.

Hanna for phosphate, planning on getting the alk soon. Use salifert for calc, mag, and kh now. Use Red Sea for any testing of nitrat, nitrite, ph, and ammonia.
