Brand new to the Hobbie after lurking, researching, and budgeting for over a year. I have a 40g NUVO pro 2 inbound next week with all the fixings and ready to start a fishless cycle. I am an intermediate experienced FW keeper who is interested in all and any tips available for a soft and LPS tank. Interested in more reef livestock than fish but all help is good help. Thanks for the welcome! Located near Nashville

Hey! Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I grew up in Brentwood, TN. Many trips to the aquatic critter when I had a freshwater system growing up!

Lots of good info on here. Best of luck in your reefing endeavors!

Hello and Welcome to R2R! Take time before putting in some of the corals. Make sure the tank is ready for them. I bought a $170.00 leather and it did not like my tank and died. Waited 6 more months and found out the tank was ready.

Welcome to our little piece of the reef.
if you really want to do a fishless cycle, get some Microbacter7 from brightwell AND Microb-lift Nite-out. I used that to start my tank and it was ready within 2 months. BUT I do recommend at least a couple fish, like a couple clowns and a wrass or Goby. that just helps the cycle along. but do take your time and TEST!! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

There are alot of great people here and we all will help with any questions you have. Happy Reefing!!!

Welcome!!!

Aquatic critter was my first stop! I just move back to TN after about 10 years away. I had them on the immediate stop list. Any other LFS you recommend?

Thank you for the tip! How often were you testing your water before adding livestock?
