New to aqua forest need help getting levels sorted

Cheers, I’ll update you in a couple of weeks hopefully there should be some movement in the mg by then and I can start dosing components 1,2 & 3 and seeing the excellent results everybody else is getting with AF products.

Hi Anirban,

Hope you are well, I know it’s been a while since we last spoke.

I am still struggling with the A/F.

Probably wrongly I started dosing parts 1,2 & 3 as my alk was at 8 and calcium at 450, however my calcium has gone above 500 and my mg has never come below 1500. As a result I have taken the dosing off line again and I am now just dosing kh buffer (30ml) per day to keep my alk around 8.

I have never been able to get rid of the brown diatoms on my sand and now my hammer isn’t opening along with my Zia’s and my 2 leathers don’t look too healthy.

I am now doing weekly 5-10% water changes with pro biotic salt and dosing bio s when I do my water change, I ha be taken the zeo out of my reactor and I am just running AF carbon and phos. I also have siporax and a litre of life bio.

Today my curent readings prior to dosing kh buffer are
KH 7.5
Ca 500+
Mg 1500+
No3 - 1
Po4 - 0.01
Temp 24.6
Sg 1.026
Ph 8

Any advice how to turn things around would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

I will stop doing water change with probiotic salt. Just get some reef salt and also stop dosing bio S. You are supplying the diatoms nutrient through your water change. Also keep the Kh buffer going on till the Mg and Ca come down. Just feed your fish thats all.
