Hello all, this is my second post after the introduction post, a lot has been updated since then! I am now stuck on what to do for lighting.
I have a 20L and a RSM C250 set up and running. I am doing "practice runs" so to speak, on the 20L and incorporating it into the C250. I bought my first lighting system last week and my first corals yesterday. I was doing research on the lighting and I am getting very mixed reviews. It is the Fluval Sea Marine 32 watts. I love the design and slimness of it. However, what I am reading is that it is not powerful enough. It is on the 20L which is shallow (around 12") so I figured the light would penetrate plenty. I also really like the app where you can dim/ramp ect. Does anyone have any opinions on this light? Is it powerful enough for softies/LPS?
The RSM C250 is then set up for 6 T5 lights which I was planning on doing. However, after setting up the LED on the 20L I would much rather go with LEDS. I took the hood apart some and I could fit two of the 46 watt versions in the hood compartment, I thought I was set. However, like I said it appears these lights are rather quite weak compared to other LEDs such as the "black box" leds I am reading about. Most of these are too big to fit in the hood compartment though. I would rather go weak LEDs and stick with softies and LPS then go T5/strong LED for sps.
Depending on what I hear from you all, I think I am going to return the Fluval and get a black box for the 20L. Can anybody recommend any LEDs for this size tank? Any LEDs for the RSM? Has anyone switched one of these RSM tanks to LED? Would sticking with the T5s be better? Would two Fluvals be strong enough?
Below is the PAR/LUX for the Fluval. Would having two increase the PAR value much? Or just give better coverage?
Really appreciate any input, pictures below that may be relevant! (Some not so much)
Thanks!
